Call of Duty: Mobile Season 8: Covert Ops and Classic Maps Return

Activision’s mobile FPS ushers in Season 8 with a focus on stealth, strategy, and nostalgia.

On July 20, 2024, Call of Duty: Mobile launched its eighth season, titled "Shadow Protocol." The update brings a new elite operator, remastered classic maps, and a battle pass centered on covert espionage. Developed by TiMi Studios and published by Activision, the game continues to blend fast-paced gunplay with strategic depth.

New Elite Operator: "Viper-X"

The season’s highlight is Viper-X, a former black-ops agent turned rogue operative. Available through the battle pass, Viper-X features a unique ability: "Cloak Surge," which grants temporary invisibility and increased movement speed for 5 seconds, rechargeable after 90 seconds.

Her elite skin includes animated effects and a custom killcam, making her a favorite among collectors. Players can unlock her at Tier 30 of the battle pass, which also includes weapon blueprints, calling cards, and emotes.

Remastered Maps: Crash and Shipment

Two fan-favorite maps from the console series return in remastered form:

• Crash: Updated with destructible environments and dynamic lighting.
• Shipment: Now features verticality with added catwalks and rooftop access.

Both maps are available in multiplayer, ranked play, and limited-time modes. The redesigns aim to balance nostalgia with modern gameplay pacing.

Performance and Controls

The update includes improved touch sensitivity and reduced input lag, especially on mid-range Android devices. A new "Sniper Assist" mode helps stabilize aim during long-range engagements.

Players can now customize fire button transparency and position with greater precision, enhancing usability during intense firefights.
